    1. Hearts of Gold.

      by Traci Byrd-Eagles

Little ones with hearts of gold,
Little ones who never get to grow old.
      Some may never walk,
      Some may never talk.
Yet they have so much to say,
As they live their lives each day.
      Their time may be near,
But no complaint do we hear.
      They love hugs and smiles,
      That time is so worthwhile.
      They teach us limitations,
      Are simply minor aggravations.
They teach us to be compassionate, warm and gentle,
And to treasure the things that are sentimental.
If their lives are but for a moment,a day, a week, a month or a year,
It is worth the lessson they have for us to hear.
Little ones with hearts of gold,
The lessons they taught us never grow old.

legacy will leave a footprint on many more hearts, even though her earthly body is gone. I hope you do write that book to help others affected by this tragic disease. You all have touched so many lives and I thank God for you.

  6. I just found out about your sweet angel. I started reading you post and stopped on the one where you said not to feel sorry for you. You ARE the lucky ones. Just looking at that sweet face brings a smile to mine. I see how strong you all are. No wonder Kaitlyn was such a fighter. I do shed tears, but only because I was not lucky enough to be blessed by her radiating love. God chose you because he knew you would give her all the love she needed, and more, while she was here. She was your angel. She was beautiful. She will always be with you. Even though I just found out about Kaitlyn, I will hold her close to my heart. Thank you for sharing her. LOVES AND GOD BLESS!!!

  7. Kaitlyn is an angel. IS, not was, but IS. Her spirit lives on. She has changed my life, a mother more than 15 times her age, who thought I experienced so much, I have been humbled by her journey and her strength. God Bless her and God Bless your family. I want to do something, everything, anything to honor Kaitlyn. I pray for guidance to do so. She has not suffered in vain. Her life was filled with purpose. I pray my life and the lives of my family will have a fraction of the purpose her life fulfilled.

  8. I have never met Kaitlyn, or your family, but I want you to know she has touched my heart. Every night since I started reading her story, I snuggle my 2 yr old son a little tighter and think of Kaitlyn. She truely is a miracle from heaven and has changed my life and many others for the better. I am heartbroken for your loss and will never forget Kaitlyn.

  9. We wish we could be there for the service, but will definitely be there in spirit. And we really wanted to send flowers but made a donation instead as you requested. I hope you got my email about it already. She was a precious soul shared by God for such a short time, but will remembered by all for eternity. Wish I could see her halo and wings as I'm sure she's the best looking angel God ever crafted. I suppose I'll just have to wait awhile to see her. ~Anjel

I hope I can look back on my life and say I touched even a small portion of the lives Kaitlyn and each of you touched. Today I dedicated my Friday Five blog post to Kaitlyn and covered five facts about Niemann-Pick disease. I also included the link for donations. God bless you at this time and may the comfort of your friends and family around you provide sweet peace. In Jesus' Name, Michelle

  14. Kaitlyn has blessed so many lives in her short time here. What an amazing family God blessed her with. You have all shown us how to trust the Lord in every way. I am so thankful that the Lord has welcomed her home and she is no longer in any pain. I am also so sorry for the pain that you are having to endure with her departure. God will continue to work through you and bless your faithfulness.

  19. Although I've never met Kaitlyn or her family, I will never forget her face from this blog and the love of yours as you so lovingly cared for her. When I visit from Pittsburgh, PA, I plan to visit Kaitlyn's grave, to say a prayer, leave a bow, and as she looks down from heaven on me, I know she will realize what an impact she has had on so many people. You are all so loved and admired. God bless you.

  21. Like so many others I have never met your family personally but have been following your blog for quite some time. The news of Kaitlyn's passing caused me to shed tears even though I KNOW she is in such a better place and that her heavenly father welcomed her home with loving arms. I pray that those same loving arms will surround your family in the days ahead as you adjust to life with your angel, no longer in her corner, but looking down on you from above. Peace, blessings and love be yours.

  22. Thank you for opening your heart and allowing other families such as my own to be a part of Kaitlyn's life. She has made such a huge impression on my heart. I will treasure every moment I share with my children, for tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Kaitlyn's story has opened my eyes on how to be a better parent along with both you and Chip. Your unwavering love, strength and courage is astounding. Thank you.

  23. Although I will never met Kaitlyn until heaven but through your blog, I feel as if I know her. Thank you for sharing her with us. Your journey of faith touched deep places in my heart that I didn't even know was there. I will light a new pink candle I just received for my birthday in her honor during her home going service. A sweet friend who had her little one go to heaven often says, until I can hold her in my arms again, I'm holding her in my heart. May God bless you with His peace and comfort. I knew Kaitlyn only through the eyes and love of her parents ... and what a great love that is. An extraordinary little girl deserved extraordinary parents. I hope that, someday, you and Chip, and your family, can find a measure of peace and comfort.
