Endurance

Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything.
James 1:2-4

I'm still here!

I still can't believe that Kaitlyn is still here. She is simply amazing. I know I say that all the time but it's the truth. She must have more people she wants to get to know her. :-)

FLASHBACK- Kaitlyn exactly 2 years ago!

Good news, Kaitlyn went through 3 diapers last night! Her average has been one a day. Hopefully this is a sign that the Lasix is starting to work. Her belly size has also decreased by an inch, but she's also not receiving any food at all so that could be it too.

There is a little angel in the middle of the bow

She has only had 3 oz of formula (that's less than 1/2 a cup) once in the past 4 days, we are now on our 5th day without food. She is still getting her meds and gets a little water to flush her G-tube. She has been resting well but is still swollen in her belly, legs and feet. Her lungs are still fluidy sounding but not as bad as yesterday.

Trying to keep her as comfy and snug as possible

We are trying our best to enjoy each day with her, despite knowing that at any time she could be ready to go.

Here is a video of Kaitlyn's breathing sounds yesterday. She was pretty congested and her oxygen concentrations dipping to 80 at times, even on full oxygen.

  7. I pray that Kaitlyn knows that the almighty God will bring her peace and that it is okay to leave the caring arms of her family. She is a beautiful little girl, and I will forever have her in my thoughts and prayers--as well as her parents and grandmothers who cared for her so lovingly and tenderly. God, hear our prayers.

  22. Dyan, Paul Witten's sisterMarch 18, 2012 at 11:32 PM

I too check your blog several times a day. My two teenagers ask about her, also. They know I pray for your family daily. Yes, that is right, they are actually worried about someone other than themselves. My daughter and I love that you all continue to dress her so cute with her beautiful outfits, bows and curls to die for.
You do not know me, but my brother is a friend from Richmond. Thank you for sharing your daughter, and her short but beautiful and purposeful life story with all of us who care. I do not know why I am so drawn to her and learning more about her disease. Maybe that is her life's mission. To bring us all back to FAITH, family and what is important in life. Thank you for your bravery and dedication to keeping us all informed. We rejoice with you, cry for you and pray with you. When the time comes to let Kaitlyn go, we will ALL be with you in thought, spirit and prayer. You know your family wil be wrapped in the arms of thousands who care from all over the world, and your God. I hope knowing this will be of comfort when you need it. When you are talking with Kaitlyn, please thank her for me, for changing my life. And I thank both of you for sharing her with us. Cole sure is a lucky little boy, to be a part of your family. I am sure he will always know what an impact his big sister has on our world in such a sweet way. Take care of yourselves and enjoy your little angels!

  27. Many people wait a lifetime to witness a miracle, but they miss what is happening right in front of their eyes. Kaitlyn and you, her family, are a miracle. I've only been reading this blog for a few weeks, but seeing the number of people Kaitlyn has touched and educated is overwhelming. Your faith, perseverance, optimism and strength are truly inspiring. I pray for peace and comfort for Kaitlyn and for strength, courage, wisdom, and peace for you,Deanna, Chip, and Cole. 28. Your scripture from James has been very meaningful to me as it was part of a recent bible study I did that was perfect timing for me. You guys are such an inspiration, even in your hardest days. Thank you for your bold witness to our Lord! In reading today's (Monday's) post and seeing that you may be in your final hours/days with your precious girl, you will continue to be in my prayers.
